Welcome to the Colby Student Storage Page

PRO Moving Service has provided summer storage for Colby students for over 20 years. PRO Moving is owned and operated by a Colby graduate, Peter Carey, ’79. Our movers will pick up your belongings on campus at the end of the spring semester and return them at the beginning of the fall semester, or accommodate those who spend a semester or two away from Colby.

We will store your belongings in our secure, climate and fire protected College Ave. warehouse in Waterville. Our moving crew is very familiar with the Colby campus and will provide you with a list of every one of your belongings we bring to storage and account for each item on return. Each item is insured for up to $ 200. We are committed to recycling (a large part of our business is selling refurbished office furniture) and we will provide free, clean, used boxes (subject to availability) for your packing needs.

Our rates for one student (2-10 items) for 2025 are:
$160 for spring pick up on Mayflower Hill or downtown dorm
$160 for storage for the summer
$160 for fall delivery to campus or downtown dorm

PRO Moving Services, Thank you again for taking care of our grandmother's piano, which was shipped to Canada from England right after WWI. Nana's brother had been badly injured in the Battle of Passchendaele and was hospitalized for over a year. Nana wrote to him every single day and gifted her with the piano as he returned home. So, THANK YOU for taking good care of the piano and getting it to Nana's great, great granddaughters!!

Hi Jason, I wanted to let you know that we were very pleased with the work Kevin and Jeff did on 7/24. They were very professional, courteous, and helpful. Once the truck was loaded, they asked if there was anything else they could help us with before they headed to Winslow. They asked the same thing after unloading the items in Winslow. Everything arrived as it should, on time, intact, and the men worked very fast on what had to be the hottest day in 100 years! I am very grateful for their speed, care, and professionalism. To the men and women who were involved in moving our residence out of and back into the Williams Building at Colby College: Just can't thank you enough! THANKS! We'd like to thank you for your hard work and the great care you took in packing up our belongings when we were unable to do it ourselves, since we were already out of the area. We are very happy to be back in Maine to begin with, but when we unpacked the boxes and saw that our sentimental, delicate and every day items had each been wrapped with great care (better than we could to ourselves), I became emotional about it all. Dear Peter• This letter of commendation is sent in recognition of the extraordinary moving services rendered to the Waterville Historical Society on Friday, 29 September by Kevin and his crew of Ian, Jeremy and Edgar. Over the course of a full day, these four individuals achieved the following: • Improvised our planned basement storage by laying down, or replacing extant pallets with, composite alternative pallets • Expanded our basement storage capacity, following your own direction and participation, by repurposing Colby dorm bunkbeds for a two tiered configuration • Moved very heavy and/or large artifacts and display cases through narrow doorways and stairways with extreme care and respect for these Items • Advised WHS staff on selection of items for storage and best practices for storage of upholstery items.
